Spirituality

Renunciation is the severance of the bonds of this material and transient life and freedom from human concerns whereby we render ourselves more fit to set out upon the road leading to God… It is the unhindered impulse toward the possession and enjoyment of inestimable good. It is the transference of the human heart to a heavenly mode of life. It is the first step toward the likeness of Christ

(St. Basil: Long Rule 8)

God calls us to live our lives fully in a covenant relationship with Him. In response to the one who is the initiator of all good things, we accept in faith the gift to lead a God-centered, Gospel-oriented life.

Our pursuit is to glorify God by living according to the Gospel.

By vowing chastity, poverty and obedience, we follow Jesus Christ, whom we put on at our Baptism and who calls us to ever deeper union with him.

We glorify God in the Divine Liturgy, in the Divine Office and in a life of personal prayer.

We recognize the beauty and value of the heritage of the Eastern Catholic Church of the Byzantine Tradition and Pontifical Right, by whose tradition, discipline and spirituality we are formed and which we can share with others.

In keeping with this heritage, our way of life is both contemplative and apostolic, which is reflected in our life of union with God in his transforming love that overflows to our neighbors.

Following the teachings of our father St. Basil, and the example of our mother St. Macrina, we live in a community of mutual support and love, united in devoted prayer and service.

We are attentive to the needs of the Church and to the people of our time, particularly those of the Eastern Catholic Church, and we serve them.

We are joyfully dedicated to spreading the Good News of the Kingdom of God here on earth and to continuing the redemptive mission of Jesus Christ.
