Pilgrimage to the Mother of God

Annual Pilgrimage to the Mother of
God

The Sisters of the Order of Saint Basil the Great held their annual Pilgrimage to the Mother of
God on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

The event, attended by more than 750 people, took place on the Motherhouse grounds on Fox
Chase Road in Jenkintown.

The day-long event is a devotion to Mary, the Mother of God. The  day of prayer started with

Reconciliation, continued with a Divine Liturgy, Rosary and Stations of the Cross.  There were  presentations on the “Mother of God: Fountain of Healing” by Andrij Chornodolsky, Gina Christian, an OSV journalist, in English, and Rev. Ivan Lubiv in Ukrainian. The day finished with a “Moleben”, a prayer service for healing and victory in Ukraine. A blessing of vehicles sent cars off at the end of the day for safe travels.

Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia presided over all the services along with numerous priests in attendance for the day’s events.

The Sisters’ pilgrimage is a time of quiet, peace and reflection. Pilgrimages offer the chance to put down cell phones, detach from the business of life, and become closer to God through a focus on prayer and the Mysteries (sacraments), and enjoy good food and fellowship.
